Selling without your own stock, or shipping directly from our inventory to your end customer?
Then choose our dropshipping option.
Dropshipping is more than just a shipping method: it is a strategy. You can start an e-commerce business without major inventory investments and focus on running your webshop. How do you attract visitors? How do you advertise? In short: you run the online store, we take care of inventory management and shipping. As a reseller, you sell products from our assortment without having to keep stock yourself. Thanks to our advanced warehouse software, Complies facilitates this professionally. When a consumer places an order in your webshop or store, you forward the order to us, and we deliver it to your customer as quickly as possible. Once we receive the order, we ship it – provided your payment terms allow it – directly to the end customer, without you having to worry about it any further.
As an example reseller, we use “Rebood Computers”. This is a fictitious company we use for illustration and education purposes. Wherever you see “Rebood Computers” below, your own company name will appear in practice.
How can you submit a dropshipping order?
There are two ways to submit a dropshipping order: via the API or through our webshop. In theory, it can also be done by email or by phone via your account manager, but the API and webshop are strongly preferred as they are less error-prone. A typo in the address or house number can easily happen and will cause delays and dissatisfied customers — something you want to avoid. Using the API requires programming knowledge; through the webshop it is child’s play. If you use SEOshop, you can automatically push orders from your back office into our database.
What does a dropshipping shipment cost?
For a dropshipping shipment within the Netherlands we charge €6.95. For Belgium and Germany, we charge €12.95 per shipment. We do not charge extra fees for the standard functionalities. Things like packing slip, shipping label, and packing confirmation to your customer with your company name are part of the standard options and are free of charge. If you want a personalized packing slip and email template with your own layout and logo, we can arrange this for a one-time fee of €750 excluding VAT. The examples shown below are free and used by default.
How does payment work?
Your customer (the end user) pays in your shop according to the payment terms you have set there. You are responsible for collecting and receiving the order amount through your PSP (Payment Service Provider). When you forward the orders to us, we process them immediately — regardless of the payment status in your shop — and the payment terms we have set for you apply. By default, for new customers we only accept prepayment: in that case, we process the order once the payment is received. For faster turnaround, a credit limit can be a solution. Please contact our finance department or your account manager for this.
What about the terms and conditions?
The law distinguishes between supplying to consumers (B2C) and to businesses (B2B). Important for you as a reseller is the right of withdrawal that consumers are entitled to: the end user may return a product within 14 days of receipt, without giving any reason. In that case, you as the selling party are required to accept the return and clearly state the return process on your website. Make sure you are well informed about your rights and obligations as a retailer or webshop owner. You can easily find the legal requirements online.
How to handle returns?
Dropshipping returns occur in two ways: through the right of withdrawal or via a refusal. If a customer exercises the right of withdrawal, the shipment will be returned to you. After all, the product was successfully delivered and you are the selling party. If desired, you can register the product with us as an RMA; in this case, our standard RMA terms and conditions apply and a restocking fee may be charged. If a shipment is refused by the end user or returned after multiple delivery attempts, the package will be delivered to us (the shipping party). In such cases, we charge you the costs invoiced by the carrier; this is the same amount you paid for the original shipment. Returned products are settled with you via a credit note.
How does the customer receive tracking details?
We arrange this for you. Provide the customer’s email address with the order. Once the package has been packed, the customer will immediately receive a packing confirmation with your company details, sent from the neutral domain www.volgmijnzending.nl. For the end user, you are the shipping party in all respects, and the package is not linked to us. Our carrier also uses this email address for any notifications, keeping the end user well informed.
Can I choose the carrier for my dropshipments?
No, that is not possible. We always choose the fastest shipping method. In the shop we directly show the expected delivery time. If you use the API, you will find all the shipping information there.
Note! Keep in mind that the order must be received by us before the stated latest cut-off time.
How does the customer receive the package?
We ship with plain tape and include a neutral packing slip. The packing slip and shipping label contain your company details. Our address is listed on the label, so any refusals are returned to us, not to you. It is possible to include your company name on the packing slip as well. The cost for setting up a personalized packing slip and a customized shipping email is €750 excluding 21% VAT.
We do not include invoices; you are always responsible for sending an invoice and deciding how you want to send it.
How can I track the status of the package?
If you use our API, you can request the status there. In all other cases, you will find the exact status in our webshop. The webshop shows what percentage of the order has been delivered and what the shipping status is.
Tip: Use a recognizable reference to your order, such as the end user’s name or your own order number.
If you have any further questions about dropshipments, please feel free to send an email to your account manager.
